1 SAA Safety Code All model flying must be conducted in accordance with the: SAA Safety Code and Achievement Scheme (currently Issue 5: April 2002) 2 Full Size Aircraft Full size aircraft have priority at all times, (before entering the runway, make sure no full size aircraft are in the vicinity). Every effort should be made NOT to be airborn whilst full size aircraft are in the circuit. If 'caught out', hold a steady pattern to the north of the strip. Keep well clear of the strip and the approach. If necessary, land in the field to the north; your model is expendable, the person in the full size aircraft is not. 3 Transmitter Control If there are more than 3 flyers present it is mandatory that the peg board is brought into use. Adjacent frequencies & cross-channel interference channels every 23 channels e.g. Ch 60-Ch 83 are to be avoided. Before the transmitter is switched on, you must have in your possession (clearly displayed) the relevant frequency peg & that you have placed your own identification peg in it's place, Note this includes any ground checks. The Tx Peg must be returned to the board immediately after use & the identification peg removed. If in doubt ask. You will be held responsible for your actions. When testing or adjusting a running engine, It must be done away from the pits, flight line and pilot stance ensuring no one is in front of the propeller, usually in the large area between the pit area and the entrance gates. All flying to be beyond the pilots stance in the recognised Manoeuvring area. (Normally parallel & Beyond the runway) Power dives & flying at speed towards the pilots box, pits, car park, hanger, & clubhouse is prohibited at all times as is over flying of these areas. 7 Solo Flying (although not recommended) A member Must be qualified to a minimum of Bronze
standard to fly unsupervised. Inexperienced pilots must be accompanied by an experienced
member ('Silver'). 8 Pilot Stance Pilots
must be in the designated "Pilot Stance" whilst flying to ensure good
communication. Mobile phones must be left in cars or
switched off at all times 10 Smoking Smoking is not permitted in the pits, pilot stance, hanger or clubhouse. This is a safety consideration. 11
Cars All
cars to be parked in the designated car parking area. 12 Children 13
Dogs Dogs
should be kept under control at all times. Any fouling should be cleaned up immediately.
The owner is accountable for the dogs action. 14
Litter All litter or debris etc. including cigarette butts to be removed immediately. 16 Etiquette Safety must be given priority at all times, be 17 Flying Times Flying times are reviewed on a regular basis, a list of the currently agreed days and times will be displayed in the Club hut 18 Visitors. Visitors Must produce proof of insurance prior to flying. An experienced flyer will be appointed to supervise said visitor until such time they are considered competent.
